A 70-year-old driver has been pronounced dead at the scene of a crash in North Yorkshire.

North Yorkshire Police said a blue Renault Kangoo and Land Rover Discover crashed in West Moor Road, Raskelf.

They added that it happened at around 3.30pm on Wednesday, September 4.

The Renault driver, from Helperby, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers said: "Our thoughts are with his loved ones during this difficult time.

"The driver of the black Land Rover Discovery, a 53-year-old woman from near York, and her 80-year-old male passenger sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital to be checked over."

They are now appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage that may have captured the collision or the vehicles beforehand.

The Renault Kangoo was traveling towards Helperby, while the Discovery was heading in the opposite direction towards Raskelf at the time of the collision.
