The Great North Air Ambulance Service’s (GNAAS) critical care teams in the North East and Cumbria were activated to 21 incidents (including stand downs) over the weekend from Saturday 24 August to Monday 26 August.

They attended 16 incidents in the North East, two incidents in North Yorkshire, two incidents in Scotland and one incident in Cumbria.

Here are statements for some of the incidents GNAAS’ team attended this weekend:

Saturday

Meadowfield, Durham

On Saturday our critical care team was activated at 11.21am to reports of a medical incident in Meadowfield, Durham.

We had a doctor and paramedic on board our aircraft and they arrived on scene at 11.31am.

Our team worked alongside the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) to assess and treat a patient, and the patient was taken to hospital by a NEAS road crew, accompanied by our team.

A75, Dumfries and Galloway

On Saturday our critical care team was activated at 12.51pm to reports of a road traffic collision on the A75, Dumfries and Galloway.

We had a doctor and paramedic on board our aircraft and they arrived on scene at 1.24pm.

Our team worked alongside the Scottish Ambulance Service to assess and treat a patient.

A6108 near North Stainley

On Saturday our critical care team was activated at 2.52pm to reports of a road traffic collision on the A6108 near North Stainley.

We had a doctor and paramedic on board our aircraft and they arrived on scene at 3.06pm.

Our team worked alongside the Yorkshire Ambulance Service to assess and treat a patient and then airlifted the patient to hospital.

Sunday

Oliver’s Mount

On Sunday our critical care team was activated at 1.16pm to reports of a road traffic collision at Oliver’s Mount in Scarborough.

We had a doctor and paramedic on board our aircraft and they arrived on scene at 1.39pm.

Our team worked alongside the Yorkshire Ambulance Service to assess and treat a patient.

A169 near Saltersgate

On Sunday our critical care team was activated at 3.10pm to reports of a road traffic collision on the A169 near Saltergate.

We had a paramedic and doctor on board our aircraft and they arrived on scene at 3.23pm.

Our team worked alongside the Yorkshire Air Ambulance Service to assess and treat a patient and then airlifted the patient to hospital.

Witherwack, Sunderland

On Sunday our critical care team was activated at 5.20pm to reports of a medical incident in Witherwack, Sunderland.

We had a paramedic and doctor on board our aircraft and they arrived on scene at 5.34pm.

Our team worked alongside the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) to assess and treat a patient, and the patient was taken to hospital by a NEAS road crew, accompanied by our team.
