The 115th Farndale Show will take place today - August Bank Holiday Monday.
Farndale is a traditional Dales Show which always punches above its weight both in terms of exhibits and visitors. It is held in beautiful surroundings nestling in a green valley surrounded by heather clad moorland at the heart of the North York Moors National Park.
The show features ever thing you would expect from an agricultural, horticultural and industrial show. Agricultural sections include Cattle, Sheep, Goats, Farm Produce and Stick Dressing while the Equestrian Classes include both Ridden and In Hand classes as well as a Gymkhana.
There is a Fur and Feather Marquee with Rabbit, Cavies, and Pigeons and in the Horticultural Marquee Flowers, Plants and Vegetables. There are many fine examples of Home Baking, eggs and preserves, photo classes, Art and crafts with separate sections for Children.
Entertainment will include Falconry, Vintage tractors , sheep dog trial and clay pigeon shoot ,with music from Bilsdale Silver Band and the Jelly Roll Jazz band.A
A spokesperson for the show said: "There are lots of ways you can get involved , with many pet dog competitions, Children’s races, including our unique hobby horse race, fancy dress, and the Ryedale Tug of War contest.
"We have catering in both main show fields including traditional and Street food whilst the Feversham Arms Inn is just opposite the main entrance to the Show ground. There will be a flower festival in St Mary’s Church just down the road, a little haven of peace and tranquillity."
"The famous Farndale Calendar will be launched at the show which raises money for Farndale Village Hall.
"Farndale Show is truly “ A Grand Day Out” and great value for money at £7 for adults and £3 for children.
