The North York Moors National Park (NYMNP) has shared a programme of activities taking place for a month dedicated to mindfulness.
NYMNP's Mindful Month is scheduled for September and will feature a wellbeing festival, organised bike rides, goat yoga sessions, and forest bathing among other activities.
The initiative is intended to help the public to relax and recharge in the Park's surroundings after the bustling summer season.
The Mindful on the Moor Festival will take place on September 7 at Danby Lodge National Park Centre, offering attendees the chance to try pottery, weaving, and embroidery.
On September 29, the Minds & Miles cycling day, organised in association with Struggle Events, will trace the Park’s routes around Sutton Bank in four tailored rides catering to all ages and abilities.
The distances include 50km and 80km, plus a 50km gravel ride and a 25km family route.
Live goats will complement the serene surroundings of Rosedale during yoga sessions, or people can lose themselves in the art of cheese-making, both at Abbey Farm Cottage.
Yoga at Guisborough Priory and on a beach will form part of a three-night Pretty Gritty retreat from September 10 to 13, which will also include dips in the sea at Saltburn and guided inland hikes.
An evening yoga session under the Harvest Moon on September 17 will be hosted among the rewilded scenery of Coast and Camplight, near Whitby.
Other activities include a wild foraging foray, a guided big tree walk, and a mood-boosting dark skies evening.
Phoebe Smith, marketing assistant for the North York Moors National Park, said: "This year’s programme really accentuates the multitude of ways and places that people can seek out within the North York Moors to help switch off from everyday life.
"We’ve aimed to create a nurturing, unpressurised environment where people can try out an activity for the first time, follow quiet signed routes for some relaxing cycling, or simply discover a local business they can revisit to continue to find relaxation in beautiful surroundings beyond Mindful Month itself."
