MALTON Town Council is moving to a new accessible hub.
A new ground floor premises has now been found in Newgate just off the top of the Marketplace beside the bus stop.
This has been bought and currently being refurbished to benefit residents of Malton
Deputy Mayor Cllr Lindsay Burr brought the idea to the council in February. She put forward an idea that the Council should invest in their own accessible ground floor premises to enable residents to be able to access help and support much more easily. This idea was supported unanimously.
Cllr Burr said "This is significant moment for Malton Town Council. We now have an investment that the residents of Malton will effectively own through the council.
The freehold site will also help enormously when the council are bidding for grants to invest more in our fantastic town."
Cllr Ian Conlan, Mayor of Malton, added: "This central location is perfect, having a visible presence in the centre of our town. It will offer flexible opening times enabling residents to visit and make full use of council services. This is a Community Hub we can be proud of as a town."
The council is expected to move to the new premises at the beginning of July.
