The Slingsby Scarecrow trail organised by Friends of Slingsby School had a record breaking 30 scarecrow entries this year to spot around the village.
The winning scarecrow with the most votes was Lumiere, created by Annie and Isla who received a day pass to Lightwater Valley, 2nd place was Stick Man and 3rd place The Gingerbread Man. The lucky winners of the prize draw who completed the trail were Tabitha, Betsy and Maisie who received a day pass to Woldies.

May Day itself began with the hugely popular car boot sale and the traditional May Day celebrations began at 10.30am on the green organised by the Slingsby Maypole Committee.
This year entertainment included from Swinton Training Brass Band, Slingsby School Maypole Dancing, Slingsby School Choir and the Fine Companions Folk Band.
Friends of Slingsby School hosted the children’s games corner, a cafe from the Methodist Chapel School Rooms and Andrew Pern from the Star Inn, Harome ran a bar to also raise funds for Friends of Slingsby School.
