It’s not that often you meet a Lion on a train – but it was roars and smiles all round for a group of young people from Ryedale Special Families on a trip from Pickering to Whitby.
Malton, Norton and District Lions – with special guest Leon the Lion – took the youngsters and their families on the special trip on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.
Lion President, Lindsay Wrightson said: “Ryedale Special Families boarded the North Yorks Steam Train from Pickering to Whitby with a Lion!
“They had a roaringly good time with their parents chatting, mixing and making friends with Leon. Malton, Norton & District Lions were delighted to organise their day out”
The group also enjoyed entertainment provided by Millie Kemp from Kirkham Henry Performing Arts, who sang Disney songs on the train.
Millie said: “I really enjoyed performing for Ryedale Special Families and the Lions on the train. The children made it such a lovely atmosphere to sing in, wanting to sing along to their Disney favourites with me!”
Malton, Norton and District Lions would like to thank Thomas the Baker for their generous support with the event and Malton and Norton Guides for their help with the packed lunches. Thanks also to the staff of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway for their help and warm welcome.
