THE achievement of apprentices across the region was celebrated as part of Derwent Training's 35th anniversary.
Derwent Training, a Malton-based training provider, marked 35 years of supporting apprentices along with working in partnership with employers across York, Ryedale and the Yorkshire Coast at a special evening at The Talbot Hotel.
Those attending the event included current and former leaders of Derwent Training, partner employers and their nominated apprentices with their families as well as supporters of the organisation.
The Deputy Lieutenant of North Yorkshire, Simon Theakston was also invited to present the awards to the worthy winners.
Derwent Training’s Chief Executive Officer, Claire Gavaghan said the evening was started with a fantastic speech by the Deputy Lieutenant talking about King Charles’ support of apprenticeships and noted how he recently commented that ‘not everyone is designed for academic study, apprenticeships are vital and too often overlooked as a career option.’
She added: "It is important to commemorate our coral anniversary, 35 years of providing training for employers in North Yorkshire.
"With many independent training providers closing, the longevity of Derwent Training is commendable and a testament to all who worked at and supported the business. Indeed, coral has symbolic meaning for longevity and success. And coral is the bedrock of the reef and the foundation for much marine life. In parallel, Derwent Training is the bedrock of engineering and leadership training in the region and the foundation on which many companies have thrived.
"Congratulations to the 14 apprentices that were recognised for their hard work and achievement throughout their apprenticeships. Derwent Training would like to take the opportunity to thank all for their continued support of Derwent Training and to help support apprenticeships in the region for 35 years."
