The Rosedale & District Annual Show took place on the Milburn Field in Rosedale Abbey on Saturday, August 19 after a break of three years because of the Covid pandemic.
2021 would have been the 150th Anniversary of the Rosedale Agricultural, Horticultural and Industrial Show so this there was a commemorative exhibition laid on by the Rosedale History Society and a souvenir Show catalogue produced.
A spokesperson for the show committee said: "There were some fears among the organising committee over the heavy rain the night before the Show, but the day dawned clear and warm and in spite of some heavy cloud it thankfully stayed dry all day. As it turned out, the 2023 Show was one of the most successful in attendance terms in recent years with over flow car parks having been opened and the public still coming on to the Show field late into the afternoon.
"It was estimated that over 4,000 attended, with stall holders, traders and exhibitors all reporting excellent results and very favourable reports were received about the facilities provided including the innovation for Rosedale of wi-fi coverage on the Show Field, so allowing traders to offer contactless sale facilities.
"Thanks are due to Sam Dring and her organising committee, the volunteers who set up the show grounds, manned the gates, stewarded the exhibitions and competitions and, of course, to Adam Collier for his ever excellent and knowledgeable commentary thorough out the day. Plans are being made for next year’s Show which will be on Saturday 19 August 2024."
