Emergency services were on the scene today (August 10) after a fire near a home spread to a 1,000-litre oil tank in Ryedale.
Two fire crews were called to the blaze in Headlands Road, in Appleton-le-Moors near Kirkbymoorside, shortly after 2pm.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service say electrical wiring attached to the two-storey detached property first caught fire and then spread to the oil tank.
A service spokesperson said the fire caused a “small amount” of damage to the oil tank and the wiring.
“Crews used a hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera to deal with the incident,” they said.
