A woman who battled cancer is hosting a fundraising coffee morning.
Geraldine Kirkham, a funeral director from E & AR Agar Funeral Directors, is hosting the coffee morning to raise funds for Saint Catherine's Hospice.
Kirkham, who herself battled breast and gynaecological cancer, expressed her gratitude to the medical professionals who gave her supportive care during her treatment.
Now in remission and back to work full-time, Kirkham is determined to give back by raising donations for charity.
She said: ""Three years ago, just before the Covid lockdown, I had a routine mammogram in Pickering.
"Within a short space of time I received a letter from York Hospital asking me to attend an appointment.
"Thank goodness I did, I was diagnosed with grade 3 breast cancer which came as a huge shock.
"Three weeks later I was diagnosed with a totally different gynaecological stage 3 cancer.
"I walked into the operating theatre at York Hospital knowing it was going to be a long journey.
"At the moment I am in remission and back to work full time.
"Two of my closest friends have just been diagnosed with cancer.
"The wonderful and supportive care of the consultant's and staff at St James Hospital Leeds, York District Hospital and Saint Catherine's Hospice have been incredible.
"Raising donations for charity is the best way that I give something in return."
The fundraising coffee morning will be held on Friday, July 21, from 10am to 12.30pm.
The event will take place at E & AR Agar Funeral Directors, on Castlegate in Norton, Malton.
