Two young girls have raised £1,600 by taking part in the 5k Pretty Muddy Run.
Isla Arundale, 12, and Lucy Tate, 11 took part in the run at York racecourse on July 2 in a bid to raise money for cancer research.
The duo decided to take on the challenge, marked by freezing temperatures and muddy conditions, as a way to "turn something so awful into something positive".
Isla's grandfather, Steve Arundale, had been diagnosed with cancer last year and has finished 30 radiotherapy sessions.
Isla's uncle Dale was also diagnosed with cancer last year aged 26, but is now in remission.
Lucy has also lost loved ones to the disease.
In order to support cancer research, Isla and Lucy rallied together and managed to raise an impressive total of £1600, with the donations still pouring in.
Terri Arundale, Isla's mother, expressed her gratitude to everyone who donated.
She said: "They did amazing during the run and we are all so proud of them.
"The girls are so grateful to everyone who has donated it really gave them the push they needed to get around the course when they were freezing wet and muddy.
"They say if what they have raised means it helps one person get better then it's worth it."
