There were no more Covid deaths recorded over the latest weekly period in Ryedale, and the number of people in hospital with the virus has continued to fall.
The latest figures from the UK coronavirus dashboard show a total of 163 people had died in the area by May 4 – which was unchanged from on the week before.
As of May 17, figures show that the York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals Trust was caring for 78 patients with Covid in hospital.
NHS England data shows the number of people being treated in hospital with Covid by 8am on the day was down from 99 on the same day the previous week.
The number of beds at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust occupied by people who tested positive for Covid decreased by 33 per cent in the last four weeks – 28 days ago, there were 117.
Figures also show that 30 new patients with Covid were admitted to hospital in York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in the week to May 15. This was down from 40 in the previous seven days.
Nationally, the number of hospital patients with Covid has decreased by 36 per cent in the last four weeks, while the number on mechanical ventilators has decreased by 25 per cent.
