Ryedale Environment Group is to host a talk by a key ocean activist on the plight of our North East marine ecosystem.

The group has invited ocean activist Sally Bunce to speak at the Friends Meeting House, Greengate, Malton, on Friday, May 26, at 7.30pm.

Sally co-runs Reclaim Our Sea, and is a marine mammal medic and environmental campaigner. Her talk will highlight the current issues affecting our seas – sewage, plastics, and the problems caused by disturbed toxic sludge, including mass crustacean deaths off the coast of North Yorkshire and Cleveland.

Sally said:“It matters not how far you live from the sea, the fact is the lifestyle choices we make are critical for the survival of marine ecosystems. I'm going to cover a multitude of challenges faced by our sea including sewage, plastics and industrial pollution which is believed to be currently decimating our north east inshore waters. And of course our iconic native seals.”

All members of the public are invited to attend, and there is no charge for this event.
