Ayton The weekend of coronation celebrations continue on May 6, 7 and 8. Everyone is welcome to join in with everything, residents and visitors alike.

Beacon and Bells: On Saturday May 6, after the coronation, join us in procession to light the Beacon in Castle Field. Start from the Village Hall at 7.30pm. Bring your own bells and let’s see if they can hear us in York!

Multi-Denominational Service, 11am Sunday May 7: Ayton Churches Together and Friends from other congregations have organised this service on Mill Green, West Ayton, down by the River Derwent, near the bridge. They will be joined by representatives from the British Legion, Scouts and Cubs. Disabled parking and seating available.

The Big Picnic: Join us for an afternoon of family fun in the Marquee on Sunday May 7, 12pm-5pm Playing Fields, Wilsons Lane. Bring your own picnic, children’s sports and entertainment. Refreshments and ice creams. Hot food van on site from 3pm.

Barn Dance: There are still tickets left for the Barn Dance on Sunday May 7 in the Village Hall, but be quick as they are selling fast. Music provided by the Beadlam Band. The dance runs from 7pm to 10pm, doors open at 6.30pm. Live entertainment during band breaks. Bar and hot food van available. Raffle. Great fun for all the family. Tickets £5, children free. Community Litter Pick: Part of the coronation ‘Big Help Out”’ Meet in the marquee located next to the Village Hall at 10am on Monday May 8. All equipment and high vis clothing provided for adults and children.

Brompton - by - Sawdon Coronation Tree – The Parish Council has planted a copper beech tree in the centre of the south west section of the Butts, which is bordered by Ings Lane and Carr Lane. This tree joins the oaks planted for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Children from Brompton and Sawdon Community Primary School, together with staff and parents, will unveil a plaque on the ‘Coronation Tree’ at around 1.15pm on the afternoon of Friday, 5 May. Members of the local community are welcome to join them, with the length of the event being weather dependant.

castle howard The Long Gallery will play host to an exhibition celebrating the King’s coronation, featuring luxurious peers’ robes worn to coronations gone by.

Our full set of Crown Jewels, exact replicas of the historical regalia used in the coronation itself, will also be on display, giving you the opportunity to appreciate first-hand their scale and splendour.

Old Malton There will be a special Commemorative service following the coronation of King Charles III at 11.15am on Sunday, May 7, at St Mary’s Priory.

Old Malton Memorial Hall is hosting a coronation party, 2pm on Sunday, May 7, in the grounds of St Mary’s Church. There will be a bouncy castle, bring your own picnic, live music, raffle, face paint.

PICKERING Sunday, May 7, 11am to 3pm, at the Community Park off Whitby Road in Pickering. Coronation-themed under 5’s fancy dress competition, fairground rides, food, ice creams and music. A homemade crown competition for children and adults, coronation-themed sponge cake. Children’s games and community stalls. Bring your family, your picnic and your camping chairs, enjoy the entertainment and be part of this community celebration of the coronation of His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen Consort.

Dalby Forest Coronation Weekend May 6, 9am - May 8 5.30pm Across the King’s coronation weekend, Dalby Forest is celebrating in style with some fantastic activities for all the family. Forest Craft & Play will be onsite to make crowns and necklaces from natural items you find in the forest. Face painting will be available across the whole weekend to get into the festive spirit! Lawn games are going to be available to get out and active in the visitor centre outdoor area. Special coronation cupcakes and goodies will be available from the Dalby Forest visitor centre cafe and Courtyard cafe.

RYEDALE Next Steps - Join us for the coronation celebrations throughout all our venues this week, royal quizzes, themed music, bingo and buffets. Wednesday, Kirkbymoorside, 9am-3pm. Thursday, Pickering, 9am-6pm. And finally Norton on Friday, 9am-3pm.

SHERBURN Coronation celebrations: Sherburn village will be celebrating the coronation of King Charles III on Sunday May 7. There will be Café Church for the whole family in the morning at 10.15am for 10.30am at the Methodist Church with teas and coffees served. In the afternoon we ‘Party in the Park’ at the Playing field from 3pm to 7pm.

Bring your own picnic. Bouncy castle, face painting, tombola. Sporting activities from 4pm. For their supporting role, The Local history Society will also be taking lots of photographs to record the event for future generations, which, after the event, will be used to produce a record for now and the future in the form of a Coronation Special Newsletter.

We are also busy preparing a display stand of Royally related photos and memorabilia, so please come and chat and check us out. Party in the Park has been organized by a joint committee from the Sports Club and the Village Hall.

The DJ will be providing music outside in the afternoon and in the Sports Club from 8 till late. Come and join the celebrations – it’s a very special day!
