As the nation gears up to celebrate the Coronation of the King this weekend members of Malton Women's Institute (WI) got together to mark the occasion with a fun crafting project.
Members created hundreds of red, white and blue pom poms which have been strung together creating special bunting to decorate Malton WI’s community garden in Old Maltongate.
Danielle Collins’ Malton WI’s President said: “There are lots of ways to celebrate the coronation but with the new King’s interest in the environment we decided that bringing some extra sparkle to our WI garden was the ideal way to mark this historic moment. Our creative members were keen to get involved and I’m delighted with the end result.”
"Malton WI, which was established in 2013, has gone from strength to strength in recent years and now has around 50 members.
"With regular socials and a series of meetings, tackling subjects as diverse as bee keeping and fraud, the group meet monthly. Malton WI plays an active role in Malton in Bloom and has developed their own community garden on Old Maltongate. The garden is a little oasis in town, full of pollinator friendly planting designed to inspire residents to think about how to create their own nature rich environments at home.
Malton WI meet at 7:30pm on the 4th Thursday of each month at Norton School, Langton Road, Norton.
