A PERSONAL trainer who is raising funds for a different charity each month is running his own marathon this Friday.
Ollie Varey, who works at Derwent Swim and Fitness Centre in Norton, is choosing a different organisation every month to raise money and awareness of the work they do in the local community.
The 25-year-old decided to do something after seeing the fundraising effort by Sinfield, a former Leeds Rhino player.
Sinfield, 42, clocked up about 40 miles a day, to raise money in aid of motor neurone disease (MND), inspired by his former Leeds Rhino teammate and close friend Rob Burrow, who was diagnosed with the condition in late 2019.
During April, Ollie is raising funds for Next Steps Mental Health Resource Centre based in Norton.
The charity supports people with mental health issues and supports people to help reduce loneliness and isolation in Ryedale
On Friday he will be running to every Next Steps hub in Ryedale.
Ollie said: "Starting at Norton I will run to Helmsley then from there to Kirkbymoorside and then finishing at Pickering, approximately 29 miles, and I will drop in and say hello at every Next Steps centre.
"Next Steps is a charity that is very close to my heart, being only around 20 yards away from the swimming baths I see and talk to lots of the people who use the Next Steps centre in Norton and it means the absolute world to them and all they do to help and support them.
"So I know that all the awareness and funds we can raise would go such a long way.
"Looking forward to meeting up with everyone and Next Steps and hopefully we can raise awareness and funds for this brilliant charity
"Please give your support and donate if you can. It is honestly massively appreciated."
