A couple with a passion for Yorkshire food have opened a new bistro in Malton.
Kevin Watt and Gemma Jackson launched The New Derwent Bistro last month.
The couple took over the former Chapter One in the Market Place at the beginning of February and after nine weeks of renovating, opened on March 19.
Gemma said: "We were based in Stamford Bridge where we had the takeaway and bistro in the village square.
"We sold the business before Christmas and re-located to Malton where we have been trying to open up for the last year."
Gemma added: "The Fitzwilliam Malton Estate had been working with us to help get us find a place in Malton and luckily a suitable premises came available.
"We have had to completely renovate the kitchen as well as the restaurant. "We have gone with a rustic theme with bespoke tables and stag theme."
Gemma added: "We pride ourselves in good Yorkshire food as well as our quirky decor within the restaurant."
The menu includes an afternoon tea, with the option of a glass of prosecco, hot and cold sandwiches and jacket potatoes along with more substantial dishes including fish and chips, hanger skewers, and burgers with vegetarian and vegan options.
On Sundays, a choice of roasts is on offer with Yorkshire Puddings and a range of vegetables for £12.95 and £21.95 for three courses.
Gemma said: "We have been full ever since and seemed to of really taken off on Malton.
"Kevin has been a chef for over 20 years as well as myself been in catering running front of house and event."
"We work great as a team and can't wait to open our takeaway and ice cream shop this summer also which is joint on to the bistro.
"We also have a great team of staff working with us as well as catering all over East Riding as well as Ryedale area."
