Ryedale residents are being offered the chance to explore a popular attraction for free this weekend.

Scampston Walled Garden and Parkland is to open its doors to residents of the district on Saturday (April 22) and Sunday (23) from 10am to 5pm, with the last admission at 4.30pm.

As the 2023 opening season hits full flow, Ryedale locals will have the opportunity to view the garden in its early stages when its structure and layout is clear to see.

The Garden Café will serve meals and treats throughout the day and the plant centre will be open, offering a selection of plants grown and cared for by the gardening team.

Chris Legard, owner of Scampston Hall, said: “We love the incredible buzz at our Community Weekends – it’s great to see so many people enjoying what lies on their doorstep!

“The Walled Garden was designed to have a very different character across the seasons.

“It is particularly special in spring when it is just starting to show the variety it has to offer, and keen gardeners can really get to grips with how the garden is structured.”

Proof of address, such as a utility bill, will be required for free entry.

Visitors will need to present this in the Ticket Office on arrival.

The Walled Garden and Parkland is open to visitors right through until November 5, 2023.

Opening hours for the gardens and the Garden Café are Wednesday to Sunday and Mondays from 10am to 5pm.
