AN event to help promote charities and organisations across Ryedale is being held in Malton next week.
Malton & Norton Rotary Club is organising the 'Involve Event' at the Milton Rooms following the success of an initial day in 2019.
Nick Medcalf, Malton & Norton Rotary member, who is leading the organising team for the event, said: "Back in September 2019 we at Rotary organised an Involve Event at the Milton Rooms for 30 organisations from the towns and Ryedale to promote themselves to the public.
"It was a success and we intended it to be an annual event. Well its back this April, supported by funding from the North Yorkshire Council's 'Stronger Communities' programme and the Two Ridings Community Foundation.
"We again have around 30 organisations booked to attend from across the towns and Ryedale who can offer people the chance to be 'involved' in may ways."
Nick said the Rotary acts globally and locally to promote and support community.
"We are very pleased to lead on the organising of this event to give our community the chance to consider how they can engage with organisations that are mainly volunteer led.
"We know that being involved with organisations that people share passions, are more active physically and mentally, can reduce potential loneliness and benefit from regularly being with like minded individuals. This event can help people find out about many organisations that they may not have been aware of, and consider joining them."
Nick said: "Each organisation will have a table and stand to promote themselves.
"Some will have interactive displays or examples of what they do available. There are many local charities from dog rescue to activities such as bowls and gardening clubs.
"The Milton Rooms Studio Bar will be open to all for light refreshments, to promote their voluntary lead organisation and for sales for upcoming performances through their Box Office.
He added: "There will be brass bands playing out front and a stage performance from the young Kirkham Henry performers. We will be handing out mini directories giving contact details for the organisations that are attending.
"We have distributed many flyers, posters and advertised widely in publications, websites and social media, so we hope everyone who wants to attend can. And we can then help the many organisations have a successful day. Lets all hope for a lovely sunny day."
The Involve Event is free to enter at the Milton Rooms, Malton from 10.30am to 2.30pm on Saturday, April 22.
