THERE was one more Covid death recorded over the latest weekly period in Ryedale – and over 150 people in hospital with the virus.
The latest figures from the UK coronavirus dashboard show a total of 157 people had died in the area by March 23 – up from 156 on the week before.
York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals Trust was caring for 153 patients with coronavirus in hospital as of last Wednesday (April 5), figures show.
NHS England data shows the number of people being treated in hospital with Covid-19 by 8am on April 5 was up from 133 on the same day the previous week.
The number of beds at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust occupied by people who tested positive for Covid increased by 33 per cent in the last four weeks – 28 days ago, there were 115.
Nationally, the number of hospital patients with Covid has decreased by 8 per cent in the last four weeks, while the number on mechanical ventilators has decreased by 1 per cent.
The figures also show that 88 new patients with Covid were admitted to hospital in York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in the week to April 3. This was up from 78 in the previous seven days.
