A POPULAR heritage railway in East Yorkshire is preparing to reopen for its 2023 season.
Volunteers at the Yorkshire Wolds Railway (YWR) are in the final stages of preparing the site to reopen the gates to visitors at 10am on Sunday, April 9.
Since closing for winter last October, the members have been working to welcome visitors back to the attraction near Fimber.
This work included extending the railway’s track.
Membership and media director Matthew Brown said: “We are so fortunate to have many willing volunteers that have worked tirelessly through all weathers to give our visitors an even greater experience in 2023.”
There will be a change of opening times for the coming season.

Trains will run every Sunday and bank holiday from Easter until the end of October from 10am to 4pm.
Access to the visitor centre and car park is free, with rides priced from £4.50 or a day pass from £8.
Phil Robson, finance director, said: “We are really thankful to all everyone that continues to support the YWR.
“We are confident the changes made over winter will offer visitors new and old something different to what they have seen in previous years, and we have many exciting announcements due later in 2023 that we can’t wait to share!”
