POLICE have revealed that officers have been working to crackdown on the sales of illegal vapes in North Yorkshire.
North Yorkshire Police’s Community Impact Team joined representatives of North Yorkshire County Council Trading Standards yesterday (March 30) in Scarborough town centre.
They visited stores in the area that had previously been linked to counterfeit products, in a bid to target the enforcement of illegal vape sales.
After the visit, however, they found that none of the store they visited were selling unregulated vapes.
A force spokesperson said: “Trading Standards were using community-led intelligence, and we assisted in visiting premises which have been linked to counterfeit products and the sale of products to minors.

“Unregulated vapes may contain products which are not fit for consumption and could have potential fire risks.
“Four stores were visited, and there were no unregulated vapes on sale which for the community - good to know! All stores were given advice.
“Officers from Scarborough Neighbourhood Policing Team and the Professional Development Unit assisted to provide support to Trading Standards and have been increasing patrols in the high street area.”
