THERE was one more Covid death recorded over the latest weekly period in Ryedale – and hospital admissions remain high.
The latest figures from the UK coronavirus dashboard show a total of 154 people had died in the area by March 9 – up from 153 on the week before.
A total of 186,218 deaths were recorded throughout England by March 9.
York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals Trust was caring for 134 patients with Covid in hospital as of Wednesday (March 15), figures show.
NHS England data shows the number of people being treated in hospital with Covid by 8am on March 22 was up from 133 on the same day the previous week.
The number of beds at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust occupied by people who tested positive for Covid increased in the last four weeks – 28 days ago, there were 87.
Nationally, the number of hospital patients with Covid has increased by 5 per cent in the last four weeks, while the number on mechanical ventilators has increased by 5 per cent.
The figures also show that 78 new patients with Covid were admitted to hospital in York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in the week to March 20. This was down from 90 in the previous seven days.
