A RYEDALE town has been named as one of the best places to visit in the UK this spring by a holiday firm.
Holiday rentals marketplace HomeToGo has named Malton as the seventh best place in the UK to visit for a spring staycation.
Malton was praised as a “charming market town” located on the edge of the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The town earned high scores across the price, scenic setting, and things to do categories.
Topping the list was Coleford in Gloucestershire, with Malton the only place in Yorkshire to be named out of the 15.
Commenting on the news, Tom Naylor Leyland, director of Visit Malton, said: “Visit Malton is incredibly proud to see Malton riding high on this list and for being the only Yorkshire location to make the top 15.

“This accolade just goes to show what we know already – Malton is situated in a beautiful location and our local accommodation providers offer incredible value for money.
“We are also very pleased to see the programme of high quality events organised by Visit Malton, including the monthly markets, the biannual Food Lovers Festivals, Meadowfest and The Marathon Du Malton 10k, all contribute to making Malton the third highest ranking location for things to do.”
