AN ENGINEERING apprenticeships fair held in Malton has been hailed a success by its organiser.
As reported by the Gazette & Herald, Kevin Hollinrake, MP for Thirsk and Malton, held his Engineering Apprenticeships Fair in the Milton Rooms last Friday (March 17).
The event aimed to connect North Yorkshire schools, pupils, teachers and colleges with local engineering businesses for apprenticeship and/or work experience opportunities.
It was hosted with support/representatives from James Fisher Nuclear, C-Kore: Simply Subsea Testing, the Department for Work and Pensions, the Spitfire AA810 project, Sylatech, Zetechtics Ltd, and York & North Yorkshire Growth Hub.
Speaking at the event, Mr Hollinrake said: “It’s gone really well.”

He said there were “lots of people” present, and lots of “in depth conversations” taking place.
The MP added: “One of the things I was blown away by when I became a Member of Parliament was how many fantastic precision engineering business there are around Thirsk and Malton.
“I didn’t know that lots of other people didn’t know that either and that’s why we ran this Engineering Apprenticeships Fair.
“It’s great to see so many young people and older people come here to look at what opportunities they might be able to seek.”
