HOLIDAY home owners have been recognised with a national award for their successful at providing a welcome stay for customers.
Alan and Helen Prole, were named the winners in the holiday let agency, Sykes Holiday Cottage’s, new awards celebrating standout owners after receiving excellent customer feedback.
The pair own Thompson Rigg Barn, near Thornton Le Dale, and have been welcoming customers since March 2019.
They converted the barn on their land into a holiday home after originally using it as a log store.
Now, it acts as the perfect countryside escape for holiday makers.

The home boasts a hot tub, wood burner, and breath-taking views of the surrounding countryside – which is also home to animals including donkeys, turkeys, hens, and a rare breed of sheep.
Alan Prole said: “When we moved to Thornton Le Dale in Ryedale 10 years ago, we were mesmerised by the stunning landscape and felt compelled to share the area with others.
“The transformation of the barn has had its ups and downs, but we’re so pleased to see couples from across the country enjoying it and look forward to creating an exciting new retreat this year on our land.”
