A CARE service in Ryedale has been given that all-clear from inspectors, following a recent visit.
Ryedale Community Care, based in Pickering, has been rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following a visit from inspectors on February 8.
This rating was an improvement on the service’s previous rating of ‘Requires Improvement’, awarded when inspectors from the watchdog last visited in October 2021.
It was previously rated Good in the areas of being effective, caring, and responsive, but inspectors said improvements were required in the areas of being safe and well-led.
In its most recent report the CQC confirmed that these improvements had been made, and thus awarded the overall rating of Good.
The service is a domiciliary care business in the Ryedale area, and currently covers Malton, Pickering, Kirkbymoorside, and Helmsley.
It provides personal care to people in their own homes and supports older people, people with dementia, physical disability and sensory impairment.
At the time of the CQC's inspection there were 18 people using the service.
'A massive achievement'
Registered manager and owner of the service, Claire Squirrell, said: “This (rating) is a massive achievement for myself and the team as we have all worked so hard over the past year to achieve this.
“I would personally like to thank my amazing team for their support, hard work and dedication to the company.
"I couldn’t have done it without them.”
A member of staff, Anna Stephenson, added: “Since working for Ryedale Community Care, it is clear to see how it, as a company, progresses.
“The clients always have great feedback, and it is fantastic to see clients happy all round.
“This wouldn’t be possible without an excellent team who are always helpful and there whenever you need them.”
Safe and well-led
In its report, the CQC found that the service was safe and well-led, awarding the rating of Good in both areas.
Inspectors found that appropriate checks were in place to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of the people using the service.
They also found that systems were in place to ensure people were safe from the risk of abuse.
The report stated: “People told us they felt safe with the care and support they received and were protected from the risks of abuse.”

Inspectors also found staff to be administering medication safely.
They added that medication administration records were completed and accurate.
The report went on to praise the leadership of the service, stating how a relative told inspectors: “This company is the only one we have used, and I can't fault anything with it.
"The carers are so friendly, respectful, and when I hear them talking to (name) it is with a real caring attitude."
