FUNERAL directors based in Malton have launched an initiative to support those locally who have lost a loved one for Mother’s Day.

SC Bainbridge, in Princess Road, and E & A.R. Agar, in Castlegate, are to offer free floral cubes to members of the public, which can be taken to their loved one’s place of rest.

A spokesperson for the funeral directors said the scheme was a “huge success” last year, and it is hoped that this year is the same.

James Sharp, business lead, said: "Many of us have lost loved ones and we know that Mother's Day can be a hard time for those who are missing someone important in their lives.

“We would like to take this opportunity to reach out to those people by providing families who are missing their loved ones with a free floral gift cube for Mother's Day.”

Floral gift cubes will be available to collect from SC Bainbridge funeral directors on Thursday, March 16, and Friday, March 17, between the hours of 10am and 4pm.
