FIREFIGHTERS were called this morning (February 23) following reports of towels on fire in a North Yorkshire town – which was believed to have been caused by spontaneous combustion.
A crew responded to the reports of a fire in the open in Oxcliff, Scarborough, at 5.58am.
Upon the crew's arrival a spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said the towels were actually in the boot of a car, and began to “smoulder” once they were removed.
