Helmsley and Sinnington County Councillor George Jabbour said: “This project is part of an extensive programme of road resurfacing that’s taking place across our county. North Yorkshire has an enormous road network as a result of its size, so I am naturally pleased that a significant investment is being delivered in the division that I represent.
“Adjustment to the start date or the duration of the works may be necessary should unforeseen circumstances arise. While I appreciate that the project will cause disruption to people’s lives, every effort is being made to ensure that inconvenience is minimal.
“Over the past few months, there has been a tremendous amount of work to improve roads in the Helmsley and Sinnington division. As a result, many residents have communicated to me how pleased they have been with the results achieved.

“The work that has been carried out did not only take place in preparation for the Tour of Britain cycle race, which had its successful Yorkshire-leg finishing line in Helmsley. On the contrary, we continue to see improvements! For example, potholes and resurfacing work on Ashdale Road and Swanland Road have recently been completed.
“I will of course continue to do everything I can to highlight the roads in our rural division that require improvement.”
