YORK and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals Trust was caring for 116 Covid patients in hospital as of Wednesday, figures show.
NHS England data shows the number of people being treated in hospital for Covid by 8am on January 18 was down from 128 on the same day the previous week.
The number of beds at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust occupied by people who tested positive for Covid increased by 12 per cent in the last four weeks – 28 days ago, there were 104.
Across England there were 6,299 people in hospital with Covid as of January 18, with 146 of them in mechanical ventilation beds.

The figures also show that 39 new Covid patients were admitted to hospital in York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in the week to January 16. This was down from 72 in the previous seven days.
There were no more Covid deaths recorded over the last two weeks in Ryedale.
A total of 150 people had died in the area when the UK coronavirus dashboard was updated on January 19 (Thursday) – which was unchanged from January 12.
A total of 179,176 deaths were recorded throughout England by January 19 (Thursday) – up from 178,133 a fortnight ago.
