POLICE have issued a warning after a spate of break-ins in southern Ryedale.
North Yorkshire Police has warned residents in the Rillington, Yedingham, and Helperthorpe areas to be vigilant after several reports of sheds and garages being broken into over the past days.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “Several power tools and various other items have been taken and other sheds have had attempts made on entry.”
The force spokesperson recommended residents to review their own security.
They advised members of the public to check sheds for security weak spots such as hinges, windows and doors – and rectify any insecurities as soon as possible.

In addition, they advised residents to consider fitting an alarm, lock everything away and keep items out of sight – and also check that insurance policies cover the contents of sheds.
“Report anything suspicious to North Yorkshire Police on 101,” they added,
“Stay safe, stay secure.”
