RYEDALE’S motorists will have nine road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

But the news isn't too bad, with all of them only expected to cause slight delays, of less than 10 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that one closure already in place is expected to carry on this week:

• A64, from 8pm January 3 to 6am March 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A64 eastbound and westbound, Rillington, traffic signals for carriageway improvements.

And a further eight closures will begin over the next seven days:

• A64, from 9.30am to 3.30pm on January 9, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A64 eastbound and westbound, Rillington, Stop and go for general cleaning and maintenance.

• A64, from 8pm January 9 to 6am January 10, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A64 eastbound and westbound, Crambeck to High Hutton, traffic signals for general cleaning and maintenance.

• A64, from 8pm January 9 to 6am February 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A64 eastbound and westbound, Sherburn, traffic signals for carriageway improvements.

• A64, from 8pm January 9 to 6am March 4, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A64 eastbound and westbound, Claxton, traffic signals for drainage works.

• A64, from 9pm January 11 to 6am January 12, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A64 westbound, Whitwell, Convoy working for carriageway repairs.

• A64, from 8pm January 16 to 5am February 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A64 eastbound and westbound, Rillington, traffic signals for general cleaning and maintenance.

• A64, from 9pm January 16 to 6am January 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A64 eastbound and westbound, Welburn, traffic signals for general cleaning and maintenance.

• A64, from 9pm January 20 to 5am January 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A64 eastbound and westbound, Rillington, traffic signals for carriageway resurfacing.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
