A SCAM warning has been issued by a Ryedale support service.
Ryecare, a 24-hour support service that helps vulnerable people to live independently has been subject to a call scam.
A spokesperson for Ryedale District Council, which operates the support service, said that a Ryecare customer received a scam call from a lady reporting that her unit will stop working unless she pays £40 per month.
While on the phone, the scammer also asked for the person’s account details and chequebook.
The spokesperson added: “If Ryecare or the Community team officers need to speak or call around, they will always ring ahead first to make an appointment.
“Please be aware and report any suspicious calls to North Yorkshire Police on 101 or General.enquiries@northyorkshire.police.uk and RDC Communityteam@ryedale.co.uk / Ryecare@ryedale.gov.uk.”
