A FARMING event held by solicitors and estate agents from North Yorkshire has been hailed a success.
StephensonsRural joined forces with Harrowells Solicitors, which both operate across Ryedale, to host an event concentrating on the theme of ‘Nurturing your farming business.’
70 people were in attendance at the event on December 2.
It was held in the Bidding Room of Duggleby Stephenson at the York Auction Centre, with catering provided by Anita Tasker.
Guest speakers included Kevin Hollinrake, MP for Thirsk and Malton, and Robert Daniel, farmer, agronomist and finalist in Farmers Weekly's recent Arable Adviser of the Year awards.
Mr Hollinrake and Mr Daniel both gave their take on current issues facing farmers in North Yorkshire.
Speaking on Twitter, Mr Hollinrake said: “It was really good to take questions from local farmers at Friday’s Nurturing Your Farming Business event organised by StephensonsRural and Harrowells and discuss the changing farm payments regime, international trade and issues likely to face the next generation of farmers.”
StephensonsRural's Rod Cordingley and Harrowells' Edward Ryder also talked around some of the practical considerations concerning land values, diversification and succession planning.
A spokesperson for StephensonsRural gave thanks to Edward Stephenson for chairing the event and to Henry Scott, Jenni Bartram and their respective teams for organising the event.
