A PRIMARY school in Ryedale is preparing for a season of Christmas fun.

Activities have been organised by St Hilda’s Primary School, in Ampleforth, including a Christmas window advent trail.

The school has organised the trail which sees villagers lighting up their windows with festive decorations throughout Ampleforth in the run up to Christmas.

On December 1 the first window will be revealed, and subsequently one a day until December 17 - when December 17 to 24 will be revealed.

St Hilda's Church Ampleforth will be window number 24, designed by the pupils of St Hildas Primary School.

This event coincides with the recent induction of Reverend James Trowsdale joining St Hilda's Church.

On December 17, from 2pm to 5pm, mince pies and mulled wine will be available outside the church to welcome the trail walkers.

Maps of the trail will be available at Hearts of Ampleforth coffee shop from December 1.

In addition to the trail, St Hilda’s Primary School will hold a Christmas Fair on Saturday, December 3, from 1pm to 3pm.
