PLAYERS of Kirkbymoorside Football Club are postponing an upcoming match to fundraise for a new pitch.
The team has cancelled its games on Sunday, November 27, with the players aged six to 16-years-old now taking part in a sponsored walk to raise funds towards a new 3G pitch, which will be built at Ryedale School.
Approximately £500,000 is the overall cost for the astroturf pitch, which is said to improve the offering that can be provided by the club to the community.
The facility will also offer sports provision that will provide programmes to support health and well-being and social inclusion for people of all ages.

Part of the costs have been covered by a grant from the Football Foundation, but Ryedale School and Kirkbymoorside Football Club are required to raise a further £200,000.
The club has currently raised £5,000 towards the pitch and has now set up a JustGiving page to raise further funds.
A spokesperson for the club said: “Any contribution you can make towards the community project will be gratefully received and will support the nine football teams and the group of volunteers in their tireless efforts to bring the project to fruition in 2023.”
