PEOPLE are being encouraged to put forward nominations for the 2023 Ryedale District Sports Awards.
Nominations have opened for the event run by Everyone Active in partnership with Ryedale District Council.
The awards are to be held on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at Pickering Memorial Hall from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.
On the night, Paralympic swimmer Maisie Summers-Newton will be the star guest and will give a talk about her achievements.
Maise, 20, won gold at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics in the 200m medley and 100m breaststroke.
More recently, she took gold in the 100m breaststroke at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

The categories for the awards are: Coach of the Year, Service to Sport Award, Junior Sports Person of the Year, Sports Person of the Year, Sports Team of the Year, Education Team of the Year, Inclusive Sports Award, Strongest Community Engagement and The Everyone Active Outstanding Achievement Award.
Nominations can be made online.
Jon Bird, Everyone Active’s general manager, said: “We would encourage everyone to make sure they have their say and nominate someone who deserves recognition for their outstanding sporting achievements over the past year.”
Phillip Spurr, director of place and resources for Ryedale District Council, said: “We’d encourage everyone to vote in the awards to recognise and reward the sporting talent here in Ryedale.”
