There are Rumours that two big acts are heading to the Milton Rooms in Malton as we enter the run up to Christmas.
First up on Friday, November 11 are The Belgrave House Band and their take on one of the most critically acclaimed, highest grossing and culturally significant albums of all time - Rumours by Fleetwood Mac.
The Belgrave House Band, representing the musical powerhouse of Belgrave Music Hall & Canteen in Leeds, reimagine classic albums with a satisfying attention to detail and an energy that makes for a unique take on the past, while delivering an exciting performance set in the present.
In their past five shows the band have covered ‘The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’, ‘Baduizm’, ‘The Writing’s On The Wall’, ‘The Love Below’ and a double show of Amy Winehouse's ‘Frank’, all to sold out audiences.
The band is made up of some of the most exciting musicians coming out of Leeds’s burgeoning Jazz and Soul scene, with members from Tetes De Pois, Mamilah, Skwid Ink, B-Ahwe and the Tight Lines label, with each show featuring guest appearances.

And on Saturday, December 17 comes the ideal festive gig - Supersonic Queen, the UK's most dynamic tribute. Supersonic Queen have been touring the UK collectively for more than 10 years, performing a magical tribute to Queen.
The band now has its strongest, most talented line up with a top-class set of musicians who care deeply about delivering the most authentic and entertaining performance, Supersonic Queen put on an action-packed show that it is ‘'guaranteed to blow your mind’'.
Take a trip back in time to experience the magic and excitement of a live Queen concert with Supersonic Queen - their energy, enthusiasm and on-stage chemistry is evident as they belt out hit after hit.
Again, tickets are selling fast and the early bird offer of £15 is valid until the end of October.
There are plenty of other shows and events to tempt audiences with two left in October – Eli & The Blues Prophets headline Ryedale Blues Club tomorrow (the 27th) and Peter Thrush and Duncan Oakley appear at the Hilarity Bites Comedy Club on Friday.
In November, Pyramus & Thisbe productions bring Holmes and Watson: The Farewell Tour on the 9th and, in association with Kemps Books, author Alison Weir talks about her latest novel, Elizabeth of York: The Last White Rose on the 17th.
On the 24th, Ryedale Blues Club welcomes The Alex Fawcett Band and on the 26th Moondogs bring back the classic pop and rock’n’roll sounds of the 1950s and 1960s

The Milton Rooms is looking for volunteers to help to keep things running smoothly. We need help with office administration and ticket sales, event management (front of house/bar), tech support (sound and light), marketing and promotion and venue maintenance and DIY.
Any would-be sound engineers would be welcome. Full training will be given on our state-of-the-art system, so it’s a great chance to learn the ropes in a live environment,

Thursday, October 27: Eli and the Blues Prophets. Ryedale Blues Club welcomes the Blues/Rock band from Yorkshire who perform classic numbers by the likes of B B King, Eric Clapton, Muddy Waters and The Blues Brothers. 8pm. Tickets £10.
Friday, October 28: Hilarity Bites Comedy Club features Peter Brush and Duncan Oakley. Peter Brush is a highly distinctive performer and deft writer of finely crafted jokes, while Duncan Oakley performs an infectious mix of musical comedy and stand up with one of his trusty guitars by his side. 8pm. Tickets £10.

Wednesday, November 9: Pyramus & Thisbe Productions present Holmes & Watson: The Farewell Tour. Sherlock Holmes has persuaded his long-time companion Dr Watson, his landlady Mrs Hudson and Inspector Lestrade of Scotland Yard to join him in a farewell tour of the British Isles. For the first time, they will re-enact one of the detective’s most baffling unrecorded cases – The Case of the Prime Minister, the Floozie and the Lummock Rock Lighthouse – an affair upon whose outcome the security of Europe once hung by a thread. A production from Kirkbymoorside based Pyramus and Thisbe Productions. 8pm. Tickets £12.

In association with Kemps Books, Alison Weir, the Sunday Times bestselling author of the Six Tudor Queens series, returns to The Milton Rooms to talk about her latest novel, the first in a captivating new trio of novels spanning three generations of history’s most iconic family, the Tudors. 7.30pm. Thursday, November 24: The Alex Fawcett Band. Alex Fawcett has fast become a popular and well respected member of the UK’s blues rock fraternity. He plays with a youthful style which echoes the guitarist of the past, mixed with a huge modern sound and feel. 8pm. Tickets £10.
Saturday, November 26: Moondogs. From the fantastic Rock ’n’ Roll sounds of Elvis, Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis to the musical explosion that defined the 1960s from artists such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Animals, Johnny Kidd & The Pirates, The Kinks and the Spencer Davis Group, The Moondogs will transport you back to those exciting times which helped to shape a generation. 7.30pm. Tickets £10.

Saturday, December 17: Supersonic Queen. Celebrate your Christmas with one of the UK’s top Queen tribute bands, Supersonic Queen. The five-piece live band has honed their show over 10 years to become one of the most authentic sounding and looking tributes in the UK. 8pm. Early bird tickets £15 until the end of October.

Jacqui Dankworth ‘Jazz Sirens’: The daughter of Dame Cleo Laine and Sir John Dankworth is firmly positioned as one of the UK’s foremost jazz vocalists. In this special and intimate evening, Jacqui turns her attention to the most iconic vocalists of the 20th Century and the singers who defined the ‘Great American Songbook’ – including Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan, Nina Simone and Peggy Lee. 7.30pm.
