AN author from Ryedale will read at a bookstore in Pickering next month.
Toby Virgo will read from his debut novel, ‘Carter the Cabman,’ at Pickering Book Tree, located on Market Place, on Tuesday, November 8.
The Pickering based author’s debut tale takes readers back to Victorian London in 1888 during Jack the Ripper’s infamous Autumn of Terror.
It tells the story of a night in the life of hansom cab driver Jeremiah Carter and his beloved grey mare, Belle, as they ply their trade on the capital’s gaslit streets as vigilantes roam and all men are under suspicion.
Doors for the event open at 6.45pm, and all those attending will get a complimentary glass of wine.
There will also be a chance to ask Toby questions and get a copy of the book signed by the author.
Tickets are free and available in person at Pickering Book Tree, or online at: pickeringbooktree.co.uk
