POLICE are investigating a crash on a busy North Yorkshire road this morning (September 7).

North Yorkshire Police are looking into a single-vehicle collision on the A169 between Malton and Pickering this morning.

A spokesperson for the force said: "The Hyundai Getz car came off the road between Bean Sheaf Lane and Kirby Misperton, just prior to the Flamingo Land turn-off, at around 8.45am today.

"The driver was treated at the scene by air ambulance medics, and he has been taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be serious."

Fire crews were also on the scene.

Crews from Pickering and Malton responded to the crash and freed the driver.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "One male occupant was released by crews and transported to hospital. Crews used cutting gear and a RTC kit to release."

Road closures and diversions were put in place while the emergency services worked at the scene.

The collision scene re-opened at 1.20pm.
