A NEW venture has been launched allowing people to pick their own flowers in a picturesque North Yorkshire location.
The Flower Belt, located 0.5 miles from Helmsley on the A170, is a place where people can pick sunflowers and wildflowers, while taking in the views around them.
Admittance to the site is free, and parking is available along the road.
Visitors can pick a jam jar amount of wildflowers for £5, or a metal vase amount for £15.
Sunflowers are priced individually at £1 or at £5 for six.
The flower picking space opened on August 13, and has been well received.
Fiona Wainwright, from The Flower Belt, said: “It has been really nice. Everyone just loves it.”
She added that many of the visitors have been enjoying the “extraordinary” views of Helmsley while flower picking.
Fiona also explained that those visiting the site have included young couples, who have branded The Flower Belt as the “perfect date spot.”
There has also been many families who have come to pick together.
“We have been delighted with the response,” she said.
The Flower Belt is open on weekends from 11am to 5pm.
It will remain open over the August bank holiday weekend (August 27 to 29), where there will be a coffee van and other refreshments available on site.
