A BOWLING club from a Ryedale town has taken gold in the league.
The Kirkbymoorside Bowling Club won the Hovingham and District Bowls League for the 2022 season.
Kirkbymoorside's Hovingham League team, captained by Malcolm Richardson, were unbeaten in all 14 games played and won the league by 21.5 points to their nearest rivals Thirsk ‘A’.
Kirkbymoorside won 12 games, drew two, and finished the league with 91 points.
Malcolm said: “It was a great. It makes it more special to lead the team out to victory.
“The team were really excited for the win.
“We won with about three games to go. It was a good victory.
“It was an impressive lead at the top.
“It was good to beat Thirsk because they’ve won it a lot of times.”
The season is now coming to a close, with the team's final game of the season at Kirkbymoorside on September 11.
