POLICE are appealing for information after a dog walker was bit and assaulted in a North Yorkshire seaside town.

The incident took place around 12.50pm on Wednesday August 17 on Manor Road in Scarborough, near to the bridge in the park.

A man was walking his dog when he was approached by another dog off its lead.

A fight then broke out between the dogs, and as the man attempted to separate them, the owner of the dog approached and a physical and verbal altercation between the two male dog owners took place.

During the altercation, the reportee suffered multiple dog bites to his hands and arms.

Officers are requesting any witnesses to come forward and speak to them, so they can establish the full circumstances around the incident.

They’d particularly like to speak to anyone who may have captured phone, doorbell or CCTV footage.

They would also like to speak to the owner of the dog who was off-lead.

He is described as around 5 foot 11 inches tall, with blonde spiky hair and was wearing denim.
