POLICE are appealing for information after thieves stole a large amount of diesel from a building site near Scarborough.
The incident happened at around 10.40pm last night (Thursday, July 21), in Seamer, near Scarborough, when suspects entered the North Fields Meadow development on Stoney Haggs Road.
Police say the suspects moved heavy plant machinery to access the fuel, which would have made noise late at night.
Now, officers are appealing to anyone who may have seen or heard suspicious activity at the site last night (July 21) to come forward.
They are asking anyone who was travelling past and may have dashcam footage, and anyone who lives or works nearby that may have captured the suspects on doorbell or CCTV cameras to get in contact.
Officers are also carrying out house to house enquiries in the area.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “If you were in the area at the time or live in the area, officers ask that you review your camera footage from the evening of 21 July and contact them if you can assist the investigation.”
Anyone with information that could assist the investigation should email: jessica.eddon2@northyorkshire.police.uk.
