A TABLE TENNIS team from Rillington have got off to a strong start since their formation two years ago.
Rillington Table Tennis Club was formed in 2020 and now compete in the local Ryedale Table Tennis League with two teams.
In their first full year of competitive table tennis, Rillington has achieved three significant achievements.
Their first team was recently crowned as champions of the Ryedale division two table tennis league, where the second team was also voted the ‘Most Sporting’.
In addition to this, team member Tom Brown won the prestigious award of player with the highest win ratio.
Chris Needham, chairman of the Rillington Table Tennis Club, said: “We are a very friendly club.
"Most of us haven’t played since we were at school, and we have been delighted by the warm and sporting reception we have received from all the other teams in the Ryedale League.
“I would also particularly like to thank Darren Flinton, from Yorkshire Kitchens and Interiors, for the kind sponsorship we have received for our team kit, and Chris Bown of Chris Bown Consultancy Ltd for a donation enabling us to purchase a first-class table for our matches.”
The group play at Rillington Village Hall and new members are welcome.
