The villages of Gilling East and Wintringham are the places to be for live music this month.
The Noisy Villages project brings rising stars of Yorkshire’s music scene to Ryedale, turning village halls into pop up music venues.
The final two concerts in the series take place this month - starting at 2pm on Sunday, June 12 at Gilling East Village Hall, the afternoon gig will feature West Yorkshire trio Band of Jays and acoustic duo The Lights, who have just released their new album 'Out of the Dark'.
Helen Mahoney of Bloom Arts, who are behind the project, said: “One of the aims of Noisy Villages is to present live music in a setting that is welcoming to all ages. We wanted to experiment with an afternoon gig which is perfect for families or anyone who prefers daytime events. There will be refreshments on sale and in addition to the music, audience members can enjoy the wonderful playground outside. Gilling East Village Hall is also home to the Ryedale Society for Model Engineers, so you may even see some miniature trains whizzing around!”
On Saturday, June 18, Noisy Villages arrives at Wintringham Community Hall for an evening of live music with another two exciting artists.
Ani Sandwith, who is a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist and Carioca Soul, who are a seven-piece band and perform a mix of latin/funk and soul.
Tickets for both events are available at www.ticketsource.co.uk/noisyvillages priced at £7 / £4 for under 18’s. All ages are welcome and under-16s need to be accompanied by an adult.
