FIREFIGHTERS were called out after a member of the public reported a 'fire' which turned out to be sea fret.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said crews were alerted at 8.08pm last night (May 16) in Scarborough.
Crews attended St Michael's Lane after a report of a fire in the open.
A service spokesman said: "A crew from Scarborough responded to the report.
"This was a false alarm made with good intent and was deemed to be sea fret (fog)."
