TransPennine Express has announced a new scheme to make its network more accessible.
Customers across the North of England can benefit from a British Sign Language (BSL) service when travelling on the railway.
The launch is mark Deaf Awareness Week and will give those who are deaf or have a hearing impairment access to improved information and assistance on their journey.
Natasha Marsay, Accessibility and Inclusion Manager for TransPennine Express said: “We are thrilled to be launching this new service. We are totally committed to making our services as inclusive and accessible as possible and this improvement will make a real difference to anyone that is Deaf or has a hearing impairment.”
The tool, provided by Sign Solutions, gives the person access to a fully qualified sign language interpreter via a video link.

TPE is leading the way in making the rail industry accessible for British Sign Language users and enhancing passenger experience for the Deaf community.”
